As you’re editing a story based on a certain template, it may be possible to switch the template of that story - provided this feature is enabled on your website. For example, you started creating a video story using the Video story template, but halfway into the story, you decide that you’d rather use the Photo story template for this story.
You can switch templates at this point, by selecting the Photo story template from the list in the top left corner of the Workspace. (Select the downward pointing next to the Story type name and then select a different template from the list.)
Since you started with the Video story template, it is critical that the story should contain at least one video. Similarly, when you start with a Photo story template, it is critical that the story should contain at least one image, even if you switch templates. Ensure that at least one instance of the basic element type of its template is used in a story. You will not be able to move your story to the next state without complying with this rule.
Typically, except for the Breaking News and Live blog templates - all other story types are interchangeable.
