Quintype Platform now supports video content in visual stories, enhancing storytelling capabilities across Bold CMS, AMP-lib, Malibu, and Page builder products.
Feature Overview
- Supports video clips in visual stories
- Designed for short clips (10-15 seconds)
- Maximum supported: 300 seconds or 60 MB
- File format: MP4 only
Technical Details
1. Bandwidth calculation: Based on actual bytes served to user's browser
a. E.g., If the user loaded a visual story with a video of 50 MB, and started watching it, ~10 MB would be downloaded; if the user watched the video for more than 5s then the next 3-4 MB would be downloaded, and so on till the end of the video.
2. Video loading: First ~10 MB downloaded for next 2 slides with videos
a. When a visual story with videos is visited, if the next 2 slides have a video file, then the first ~10 MB of it is downloaded with a 206 HTTP response code.
3. Progressive loading for larger files
4. No support for HLS adaptive bitrate or m3u8 streaming format yet
a. Since amp.dev added support for HLS streaming in May/June 2024, this is not supported by Bold and page-builder yet.
b. Since this feature is meant only for short clips of around 10s, the streaming option is not yet supported.
Usage Notes
- Ideal for small, impactful video clips
- Enhances visual storytelling within the AMP framework
- Optimised for efficient bandwidth usage
