Cloning a story in Bold CMS allows you to quickly duplicate an existing story. This is useful when you want to create new versions of stories without starting from scratch.
What Happens When You Clone a Story?
When you clone a story: A new story is created with the title: “Clone of <Original Title>”
The cloned story opens in the Open state, ready for editing
All content and metadata from the original story are copied
The cloned story is independent, meaning changes to the original story will not affect it
What Is Not Cloned?
Some elements are not copied during cloning and need to be added manually:
Hero image alt-text
Alternate hero image
Social hero image (caption & attribution)
Clone Indicator
Cloned stories display a Clone Indicator in Bold CMS. This helps editors quickly identify cloned content.
